What is Hidden Gems?

Supporting underprivileged children and abused women, we offer home jewelry parties where 20% of the profits go directly to great causes in Nepal, the 12th poorest nation in the world. 


How did Hidden Gems arrive in Canada?

While traveling in Nepal in the winter of 2004, we met two inspirational people who contributed to the birth of Hidden Gems: Rebecca Thomson, an Australian Nurse who originated the concept of home jewelry parties assisting Nepal charities, and Dr. Ashok Banskota, an orthopedic surgeon changing the lives of underprivileged children.


Who comes to the home parties?

Friends, family, colleagues ... anyone who likes beautiful jewelry ... at a great price ... for a wonderful cause.

What are the prices like?

They vary from as low as $8 to $100's for exotic pieces, but people consistently tell us they are surprised at the very reasonable prices. 


Who benefits from Hidden Gems parties?

We insist that everyone involved wins.

Guests have an opportunity to purchase beautiful jewelry (much of it one-of-a-kind) at great prices, knowing that 20% will go directly (no inter-agencies) to worthy causes.



The host receives a $50 credit for playing a vital role in the whole process. 

The charities receive the money needed to continue their wonderful work.


The women who make the bead work and other items receive training and a fair income. 

We get a source of income that enables us to dedicate the time to Hidden Gems that is required to help it grow, so that even more will benefit.

What specific charities are supported?

ABC Nepal, which rescues and rehabilitates Nepali girls who have been trafficked into prostitution in India.

HRDC - changing the lives of underprivileged children with severe disabilities.

VEDFON, which employs women from the lowest caste in Nepal to produce beaded jewelry.

And Snowland Ranag School, a Tibetan school in Kathmandu which provides shelter and education for children from the very remote region of Dolpo.
